Teaching at IQRA
Iqra Academy of Virginia reviews its staffing needs annually and generally begins advertising in early spring for experienced class and subject teachers as well as support staff for the upcoming school year. Advertisements are placed on our website. We also accept resumes for our Substitute Teacher List throughout the school year. Applicants who are selected for our Substitute Teacher List are invited for an orientation and for observing in a classroom. Rate of pay is commensurate with experience. Candidates who are being considered for Class or Subject Teacher positions will be invited to an interview with our Hiring Committee. Candidates who are short-listed after that interview will then be asked to teach a demonstration lesson to one of our classes of students while being observed by members of the Hiring Committee. A full benefits package is provided for salaried staff working full time including health insurance and tuition discount for teachers' children enrolled in our school. Come Teach at Iqra Academy of Virginia
Who are we?
Founded in 1998, Iqra Academy of Virginia offers a full and well-rounded program to over 85 students from toddlers to grade six. We are very fortunate to have mainly full classes and a spacious, beautiful facility in which to work. Our faculty is made up of 20 full and part time teachers, administrators and support staff. The school is managed by Board of Directors. Iqra is a developing member of VAIS, currently working towards full accreditation. Iqra is also a member of the Islamic Schools' League of America. We offer reasonable tuition rates lower than many private schools. We also have a tuition assistance fund, allowing diversity in our community and strengthening the social fabric of our school.
Where are we?
Our current facility, since 2007, is located on the border of Chesterfield County in Richmond, Virginia. Our facility is equipped with two playground areas, a large field, computer lab and multipurpose space. With a close proximity to downtown, our school avails itself to field trips at Richmond's excellent museums as well as its natural resources.
Who are we searching for?
Early each spring, we begin our search for experienced class and subject teachers for the upcoming school year. We favor applicants who are eligible for a Virginia Teaching Certificate (i.e. hold a Bachelor of Education degree) and/or proven teaching experience. We are looking for warm, imaginative, committed and dynamic individuals to join our faculty and community. In addition, we look for teaching assistants, preferably those with experience, as well as support staff for our growing enrollment.
What do we offer?
Our salaries range, depending on training and experience. We also offer Health insurance, teacher training and workshops, sick leave and vacation days, and a 40% reduction of tuition for children of full-time faculty and staff.
