Religious Studies
In our school we are always striving to be the best that we can be and encourage our students to do their best in all that they do. Nevertheless, we have a greater passion for Quran, Arabic and Islamic Studies. Our main objective is to plant and nourish the love of our Deen in the students’ hearts and minds. Therefore, the quality of information our students receives stems from the sense of responsibility that lies on our shoulders towards the young lives that we are entrusted with and knowing that we have to answer to God All Mighty about any knowledge we have and what was done with it.
Quran:
Our objective in teaching Quran is to prepare the students at a young age to be able to read the Quran with Tajweed using state of the art technology that is issued to every student. Each year, students from 1st grade and up are expected to memorize half of a Juza’ per year and revise the previous year curriculum. Parental involvement is strongly effective in their child’s daily Quran recitation and memorization. We recommend at least 30 minutes of daily recitation of Quran, 365 days a year.
Islamic Studies:
We understand the diversified nature of our students, therefore, we teach only the authentic Hadith and practices of Ibadat. It’s the parents’ prerogative to teach Madhab related practices or Fiqh issues. The school takes a strong stand in not to indulge in debates or discussions about Madhab related issues.
Arabic:
Pre-k through KG are taught Arabic based on the way Othman Mus-haf is written. (i.e. the Madinah Mus-Haf). This way the child is also learning to read the Quran at an early age.
Virginia State standards for second language learning are the guide in teaching Arabic for 1st grade and up. Students are able to read, comprehend, and write grade appropriate material.
