As Salaamu Alaykum
 
My name is Br. Thair Hussen (Abu Harith) and I will be the Arabic teacher for Kindergarten to 5th grade this year at IQRA Academy. For those of you who don’t know me, I am the Imam at the Islamic Society of Greater Richmond in the West End. I have, Alhamdulillah, 3 years experience in teaching the Arabic Language. This year, I will try my best to teach our children the language of the Holy Quran which Allah (swt) chose to be the language of the residents of Paradise.
 
The focus of the Arabic program this year is a Quranic approach to develop the students’ basic grammar and structure of Arabic using Qur'anic words, phrases and sentences.
 
Our Arabic class is built around child – centered themes which help the students understand the Arabic language by thinking about essential questions and finding answers to their inquiry.
 
The focus of the Arabic curriculum will be on 5 subjects:
1. Reading
2. Grammar
3. Spelling
4. Conversation
5. Handwriting
 
Inshaa Allah by the time the students graduate from IQRA they will develop proficiency in the Arabic language. Parents’ help and involvement are essential when it comes to the academic success of their children. This is especially true for learning the Arabic language. Please review with your children what we have covered in class on a regular basis so they can build their skills and retain the knowledge they have acquired.
